WIB Investigates: What's the deal with the "Psyop e-girl" SHOT Show scandal rumors? - War Is Boring (2024)

A scandal involving one of the US Army’s top “e-girl” personalities and the firearms industry has been spreading across the internet like a brush fire- but what is the truth behind it all?

Over the past few days, several social media platforms have been abuzz with allegations that a sex tape involving US Army Psychological Operations Soldier and budding social media starlet Hayley Lujan and a member of Weapons Outfitters was leaked while they attended SHOT Show in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Upon learning of the alleged scandal (to include allegations that Lujan was under the influence of drugs and alcohol, bringing both Uniform Code of Military Justice and consent matters into question), War is Boring got to the bottom of the matter, contacting opposing parties involved.

The story itself is simple enough: Hayley Lujan, an “e-girl” serving in the United States Army -who rocketed in popularity due to her presence on TikTok and Instagram to the point of being accused of acting as a recruiter- was reportedly involved in a murky and sordid event at SHOT Show.

The claims were circulated by “Crimes Man,” a faceless social media personality tied to the goings-on of the firearms industry.

“Yes, the ‘psyop e-girl has a sex tape from some Shot Show afterparty,” a post from Crimes Man read. “Leaked off some industry dude’s phone, allegedly one of the weaponsoutfitters guys.”

“Yes, it’s real,” Crimes Man continued. “She’s also drunk or high in it, so it’s super sketchy. No, I don’t have it. No, I won’t tell you where to get it. People are still trading around screenshots from it like they’re NFTs. You shouldn’t join Discord servers in the first place.”

“Don’t be like whichever dumb*** is the cause of this, turn on [two-factor] authentication for your iCloud,” the post concluded. “Also, don’t simp for girls online.”

The post quickly picked up steam, circulating in message boards and firearms groups.

Now, it was just a matter of reaching out to the parties involved and getting their sides of the story. The first to come forward was Weapons Outfitters, a firearms outfitter and culture company known for their racy-yet-tasteful “Playboy of the Gun Industry” sub-brand, “Weapons Outfitters After Dark.”

“Weapon Outfitters was launched in 2009 from the Pacific Northwest by a firearms enthusiast with a passion for firearms, training, and technology. Drawing on knowledge and experience from experts in the industry, gleaned from training and leveraging experience in the tech industry — Weapon Outfitters strives to deliver the best in class modern firearms accessories to the market. With a focus on providing high quality weapon accessories and an emphasis on product education and skills development, our goal at Weapon Outfitters is to assist customers to make an informed decision with their firearms parts purchases.”
Willing to speak with War is Boring, Roy from Weapons Outfitters stated that the “scandal” was nothing more than hearsay, caused by online trolls trying to engage with Lujan.

During his time at SHOT, Roy (who is an experienced industry photographer with WO and wished to go only by his first name), was reportedly with his wife, an allegation that was independently verified by other SHOT attendees familiar with the event and willing to speak on the matter under the condition of anonymity.

While Roy admits he inadvertently stokes Crimes Man’s trolling flames by suggesting to Lujan that Crimes Man was an FN Herstal employee (who was allegedly fired following a negligent discharge), that’s more or less where his involvement ends.

“I think I said ‘this guy is the dude known for the ND and getting fired from FN,’” Roy said in an interview.

Roy went on to note that Lujan also denied knowing anything about the “tape,” and that the entire incident was rather insulting to him.

Lastly, Roy states that such allegations would also be quite serious for Lujan, who is still in the United States Army and therefore subject to UCMJ/drug testing.

While Lujan did reportedly engage with Crimes Man in a less-than-graceful manner (as evidenced by screenshots), no confirmation of such an incident has ever come to light.

“Imagine being a sh***y little meme page mad because they can’t get pu**y or have a pu**y of their own,” read Lujan’s alleged response, provided by Crimes Man. “Go remove ur spine and suck ya [unreadable].”

On the other side of the ring, Crimes Man was also reached out for comment. Initially, Crimes Man was willing to speak with us following “some IRL business.”

Following the discussion with Weapons Outfitters, Crimes Man admitted that he had “no knowledge of any actual sexual tape or screenshots of said tape.”

Later, Crimes Man would post on the Meta platform about more or less masterminding the scandal, captioning a screenshot of Lujan clearing the air about Crimes Man not being the disgraced FN employee, as previously circulated.

“I shared information about a meme lord and anonymous person which was untrue,” Lujan said in the image posted. “That person has not actually worked for FNH, and never ND’d or acted irresponsibly with firearms.”

“How many times have I done this now?” he wrote. “When are these people going to realize that when they are mad at someone named ‘Crimes Man’ and some alt account of a guy in a sombrero and comically large mustache offers them damaging information about said ‘Crimes Man,’ that info is probably bullsh**?”

As for Lujan, the up-and-coming social media personality has undoubtedly learned a valuable lesson about challenging online trolls and “meme lords,” the kind of lesson that can only come with time and experience in the vast and hostile and (metaphorically) thirst-ridden wasteland that is the internet

So, there it is. The scandal has been independently fact-checked and found to be little more than online trolling gone horribly out of hand, with parties involved stating as much.

Still, what happens in Vegas doesn’t always stay in Vegas- this won’t be the first case of drama to come from SHOT Show, and it most certainly will not be the last.
